Shutting down or restarting a remote computer is a piece of cake after establishing the connection. That’s why I have included the separate guide for it.
How to Remotely Connect to a Computer from Windows 10 ?
Follow the steps given below to remotely connect to your computer.
Step 1: Search for remote settings by pressing the Win key or clicking the start button. Open the first thing that says Allow remote access to your computer.
Step 2: Under Remote desktop, choose Allow remote connections to this computer radio box. Then, click Ok. You have to make sure that Network Level Authentication is turned on.
Note:- The first two steps are to be done on the target computer, the one you want to get connected to.
Step 3: You can use multiple options to establish a remote connection. There is a default apps comes loaded with Windows. If you don’t like it, you can always download one from the Store.
Step 4: Now you should access the computer, from which you want to access the other computer. Hit start button and search for remote.
The first option, Remote desktop connection is what we want. Just click on the same to open it.
Step 5: First, you have to give the remote computer name. Enter the appropriate one.
Once you insert the name, hit Show options. Can you see a username field there? Simply enter the username three. When you click Connect, it will ask you for the credential as well. So make it ready.
There you go! If the details you provided are correct, you will get remotely connected to the other computer within no time.
Note:- One of the easiest ways I recommend is Team Viewer. You can painlessly establish a connection using it.
How to Remotely Shutdown a Computer or Laptop running the latest OS ?
Now that you know how to establish the remote connection, let me share how you can shutdown.
As I said earlier, the process is quite simple.
Method 1: The Traditional Method
Access your remote computer. If everything goes well, you can use it like you use the computer in front of you.
Hit the Win key and hit the Power button. You will get multiple options there. Choose Shutdown (or restart). There you go!
Method 2: From the Start Button
Without evoking the start menu, you can shutdown a remote computer.
Just right-click on the start button to get a big list of options on a menu! Have a look at the second last one. Does it read Shut down or sign out? There you go! Move the mouse pointer over the same.
You will get multiple options there. Choose Shut down or restart.
Method 3: Using Command Prompt
You have to open Command Prompt on your computer first.
Hit Win key and search for cmd. Alternatively, you can hit Win key+ R for run dialogue box and type cmd into the field there as well.
Now enter the following command into the window.
There you go!
Method 4: Using a .bat File
You can save a .bat file on the remote desktop for the quick shut down process.
First, open Notepad on your remote computer. Then, enter the same command you got under the previous section into the text editor window.
Now save the file with a bat extension. For example, shutdown.bat.
Whenever you want to remotely shutdown the computer, just opening the file will do the trick.
